Reinforcing our Commitment
Your help is needed to make this event a success! SCCD is looking for industry partners and enthusiastic individuals to help set up, take down, be a group leader or offer an activity for students. Get your company involved in developing our future construction workforce.
How Volunteering Works
Volunteers are Needed!
Choose from three volunteer roles: Group Leader, General Volunteer, or Activity Provider
To sign up, complete and submit the the online form.
A SCCCD team member will contact you to discuss your assignment and/or requested activity. Additional forms will be provided to you as needed. Activity Providers need to download and complete the Activity Form.
You will be asked to sign a release form when you arrive to the event.
General Volunteers will help with one or more of the following support services: registration, set up, take down, lunch, traffic control, and other general support services.
Group Leaders will be assigned 8-10 students and given a schedule to accompany them as they participate in activities throughout the day. There will be an orientation meeting prior to the students arriving to go over procedures.
Set up a “Hands On” Activity for the students to participate in which represents a career area: architecture engineering, building crafts/trades, highway construction, information on training/education programs or management. Activity providers will be contacted by the SCCCD team to provide details of their activity for approval.
DAY BEFORE THE EVENT
General volunteers will be needed to help set up for the event between the hours of 8:30 AM until done. If you are unable to join us for the whole day, please come when you can. Breakfast will be available – lunch will be on your own.
DAY OF THE EVENT
The day of the event, general volunteers will help with traffic control, serve lunch, help with registration or wherever else you may be needed. Help will also be requested this day to take down and clean up the site after the event.
Group Leaders will receive a packet of materials and a schedule when they arrive. An orientation will be held at 7:00 AM and then a tour of the site will be given.
When students start arriving, you will be assigned a group of approximately 10 that you will guide through a schedule of “hands on” activities and equipment.
You will be with the students from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM when they board their buses to return to their schools. If you have a construction background and the ability to answer simple questions that will spark student interest in the industry, please consider being a Group Leader.
All volunteers need to arrive by 6:30 AM and report in at the registration table. You will be directed from that point. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR HARD HAT!!!
