How Volunteering Works

To sign up, complete and submit the the online form by clicking on the Sign Up Here bottom below..
If necessary, A SCCCD team member will contact you to discuss your assignment and/or requested activity. Additional forms may be provided to you as needed.
You will be asked to sign a release form before or when you arrive to the event, if you did not complete it online.

General Volunteer
General Volunteers will help with one or more of the following support services: registration, set up, take down, lunch, traffic control, and other general support services.
Group Leader
Group Leaders will be assigned 10-15 students and given a schedule to accompany them as they participate in activities throughout the day. There will be an orientation meeting prior to the students arriving to go over procedures.
Activity Provider
Set up a “Hands On” Activity for the students to participate in which represents a career area: architecture engineering, building crafts/trades, highway construction, heavy equipment operator, and more. Activity providers may be contacted by the SCCCD team to provide details of their activity.
DAY OF THE EVENT
The day of the event, general volunteers will help with traffic control, serve lunch, help with registration or wherever else you may be needed. Help will also be requested this day to take down and clean up the site after the event.
Group Leaders will receive a packet of materials and a schedule when they arrive. An orientation will be held at 8:30.
When students start arriving, you will be assigned a group of approximately 10-15 that you will guide through a schedule of “hands on” activities and equipment.
You will be with the students from 9:00 AM until 1:40 PM when they board their buses to return to their schools. If you have a construction background and the ability to answer simple questions that will spark student interest in the industry, please consider being a Group Leader.
All volunteers need to arrive by 8:15 AM and report in at the registration table. You will be directed from that point. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
